Summer 2

 

Now we are reaching the end of term, the children in year 4 will not be set anymore homework. It has been a fantastic year and the children have worked so hard. Thank you to parents and carers for all your support over the year. Over the summer holidays, please continue reading with your child and practice times tables on TTRS.

Summer 2 Week 6

 

Set: Monday 8th July

Due in: Monday 15th July

 

Spellings: What other words can you make from your spelling words? e.g. actually= cut, tall 

Try and come up with 5 new words from each of your spelling words.

 

TTRS: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 x table. 

 

Summer 2 Week 5

 

Set: Monday 1st July

Due in; Monday 8th July

 

Spellings: Write the definition of your spelling words- use a dictionary if you need to.

 

TTRS: 10, 11 and 12 x table. 

 

Summer 2 Week 4

 

Set: Monday 24th June

Due in: Monday 1st July

 

Spellings: Write your spelling words in an appropriate sentence. 

 

TTRS: 6, 7, 8 x table

 

Summer 2 Week 3

Spellings: Prefixes sub and re.

Use a range of different techniques to learn your spellings. Try to use a different technique for each new spelling.

Think about: different colours, text styles, write a sentence, draw a picture, create a mnemonic …

e.g. mountainous – a snowy mountain scene

Spellings:  Use a possessive apostrophe in the correct position for all of these sentences.

 

The dogs tails were wagging wildly.

The cats toy was stuck behind the sofa.

The girls jumper did not have her name in it.

The boys football cards all went missing.

 

Now write your own sentence showing a singular possessive apostrophe and a sentence showing a plural possessive apostrophe.

Spellings: Find the definition of each of your spelling word.

 

TTRS: 6, 7, 8 x table. Please use TTRS online as much as possible over half term. The children will be tested on all their times tables via a computer test in June. They will have 6 seconds to answer each question so they need to be confident with their multiplication recall.

Spellings: Draw a picture to show the difference in meaning between the homophones or write a sentence to explain the meaning of the homophones.

Spellings: Write your spelling words in a sentence. Make sure you know the meaning of your word so your sentence makes sense.

Spellings: 

Draw a picture to represent each of your words. Write out your word and underline or circle the tricky part of the word. Copy the tricky part out 5 times in different colours.

Spellings: Create your spelling words out of things you find around the house e.g. pasta, sticks, toys etc. Take a picture to put in your pink spelling book or draw a picture of what you did.

 

TTRS: Please practice all times tables on TTRS especially 6,7,8,9 and 12 x table. 

 

Have a lovely Easter holidays- don't each too much chocolate! :)

Make sure you do plenty of reading practice too! Have a lovely half term break.

Spelling review- Use a range of methods to learn spellings from the Autumn term that you still don’t know how to spell.  Alternatively, start to learn the new Spring term spellings that are displayed on the school website.

Remember to read plenty over Christmas and practice your times tables on TTRS.
