PTA
Anstey Junior School has an active Parent Teacher Association which holds fundraising events throughout the year to raise money towards school equipment and activities. The events are also enjoyable for the pupils, so there is always a good turn‐out for the discos, tea afternoons and cake bakes. The main fundraising event of the year is the Easter Fair which last year raised nearly £1400 and included raffles, tombolas, games, refreshments and competitions for the best Easter bonnet and miniature garden. The PTA also organises the purchasing and sale of school uniform.
As in previous years, the PTA has agreed to pay for a theatre company to visit the school as a Christmas treat for the children, and to subsidise school trips. This year we will also sponsor equipment used for Design and Technology which will help the school purchase high quality materials.
This year the school has asked the PTA to subsidise their plans to improve IT provision by the purchase of more laptops, digital microscopes and camcorders. The PTA has agreed to try to raise £3000 towards this through the Christmas raffle, click here for details , and Easter fair. The main project for last year, 2008/09, was the raising of funds for new outdoor play equipment, towards which the PTA gave the school nearly £2000.
Meetings are held in the evenings to make it easier for working parents to attend. We are always happy to welcome new members and there is no pressure to volunteer for any task. If you would like to join the PTA or just help out at an event, please speak to the school office.
The next PTA meeting will be on Tuesday 12th January 2010, at 7pm.
