Meet the Governors

Governing Body of Anstey Junior School

Along with Headteacher Mrs Emma Humphrey, the Governors of Anstey Junior School are:

Mrs Sarah Russell

Chair of Governors, SEN Governor, Co-Opted Governor. Appointed February 2021.

I have been involved with Anstey Junior School since my eldest son joined in 2019 and I joined the Governing body in 2021. I am a SENCo at a busy junior school in Basingstoke, where I have worked for over a decade, supporting children with a wide range of needs and ensuring that they get the best provision possible. In my SEN governor, I enjoy using my knowledge in a new way.

Mr Roger Easthope OBE,

Vice Chair, Safeguarding Governor and Chair of Curriculum Committee, Co-Opted Governor. Appointed September 2022.

After a career as a class teacher and headteacher, I worked as a consultant and mentor for the DfE, an Ofsted inspector and an assessor for teacher training before being awarded the OBE for services to education. I have volunteered in schoolboy football for over 40 years and also serve as a governor in a special school. I moved to Alton 4 years ago and look forward to my role as new co-opted governor at Anstey Juniors.

Mrs Heather Eastman

Development & Training Governor, Co-Opted Governor. Appointed September 2018.

I joined the Governing body at Anstey in 2018, I have been actively involved with the school from when my eldest child started at Anstey in 2013. I worked in retail management for over 24 years and now work within the Anstey family as the Data protection officer. I have experience of being involved with other Governing bodies as a clerk.

I am proud to be in a Governor role, it is vital to the running of the school, ensuring the school team are supported and challenged to provide the best for all pupils at Anstey.

Mrs Jo Dorans

Staff Governor. Appointed July 2022.

I joined Anstey Junior School as the Family support worker in September 2021 and have recently become Staff Governor. Anstey Junior School is a wonderful place to work where the staff put the children at the heart of everything they do, ensuring they are happy, safe and ready to embrace their learning journeys. I am a parent of 4 children, all at different stages in their careers and schooling. I appreciate the challenges that school life can bring but know if everyone works together it can only promote positive outcomes for our children.

I have been Vice Chair of Governors at a local village school for over 15 years so understand the importance of school governance. I look forward to working with the staff and Governors, challenging, supporting and continuing to make Anstey Junior School the best it can be.

Mrs Emily Taylor

Parent Governor. Appointed March 2023.

I've recently joined the governing board at Anstey Junior School.  I have 4 children, 2 have now left Anstey, 1 currently in the school and 1 who will be there in a few years- so I will be involved with the school for many years to come! I work as a midwife in the NHS. I hope that I can bring a different perspective to the governor meetings and support the school to be the best it can be.

Mr Jason Smalley

Chair of Finance and Resource Committee, Co-Opted Governor. Appointed September 2023.

I have lived locally to Anstey Junior School for 14 years with my wife and son.  I qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and currently work part-time for my own firm providing strategic legal advice to business around the UK.  Over the years I have sat on many Boards as a company director and pension trustee.  My responsibilities include; risk management, health and safety, business management, human resources, facilities management, construction and engineering projects, dispute resolution and corporate compliance.

I was previously a co-opted governor for a primary school and sat as Chair.  I look forward to bringing a positive contribution to the Governors and serving the school to best of my ability.

Mrs Miranda Staveley

Co-Opted Governor, Appointed September 2024

I live near Anstey Junior School with my husband and little boy and am delighted to take on the position of a co-opted school governor. I signed up to become a governor whilst on maternity leave from my job as a Finance Director in a telecoms company, before that I worked in the tech industry and started my career in banking. I hope to bring my finance and people management experience to this position and am excited to get to know the school better.

Mrs Olivia Brown

Parent Governor, Appointed December 2024

My family has been part of the Anstey community since 2020, and I’m now eager to take a more proactive role in supporting the school’s continued growth and success. As a mother of three, a full-time jeweller, and a tutor with my own well-established business, I bring a diverse set of skills and experiences to the table. I believe serving as a parent governor would be a rewarding opportunity, allowing me to contribute to the school’s values and its strategies for nurturing and educating our children.
